Aflac Iron Girl 5k Race

I did it!!!! I ran the Aflac Iron girl 5k race at Tempe town lake this past saturday. It was sooo much fun!!! I did this race with my dear friends, Courtney, Maegan and Julie. We really had a good time. We all drove down together and were just like giddy little teenagers. We had a great time laughing and enjoying the endorphins from running.
I didnt carry my camera with me during the race, so the pictures that I have were taken in the parking garage after the race. I was pretty impressed with how well they turned out considering we placed the camera on my back bumper and set the timer. OK, the pic with the strange things in my shirt is a little silly. I need to explain this one a bit. We got these cute little duckies in our goodie bags and we thought it would be fun to stuff them in our shirts. I was the only was who was crazy enough to take my pic with them in there. (I know Jon is probably way proud of his dorky wife. Hee Hee) This is what happens when a group of Hot mamas get together without hubbies or kiddos and get loaded up on endorphins. Have I mentioned how much fun it was!!!
Also to toot my own horn, thanks to my friend Maegan (who is an awesome Marathoner), she helped push me to go super fast at the end. The last race I did, at the end I was like dying to just cross the finish line, but this one, I got a total burst of energy and totally booked it. I was also able to shave off 5 mintues of my time from the last 5k that I did. Yay me!!!!

Now Courtney told us that they only shout out the cute girls names as they cross the finish line in the races. And they shouted out all of our names over the loud speaker as we crossed the finish line. So we must be pretty dang cute, right?!? Yay for us!!
Also, you can't tell very well by the pictures, but I was very proud of my hairdo. I wanted it to look pretty cute for the race. I stole the do from my little sis Ash. It has a little french braid at the front bang area and then a cute little pony type thing on the top of my head. One fellow runner commented on how nice it bounced as I ran instead of just flopping around. That was totally what I was going for. You know it is all about the hair, right?!?! hee hee

OK, one more funny thing. This was an all girl race, which was awesome! Of course, the lines to the bathrooms were extremely long due to this fact. But as we were running we saw the one lone guy who entered the race. And my friend Maegan said, "Hey he doesnt have any breasts. I thought that was a total requirement to enter the race. Wasn't that on the registration form?" He kinda looked over and gave us one of those whatever looks. It was pretty funny. (you might have had to be there to really get a super kick out of it as I did. I thought it was hilarious!!!)

We cant wait to do our next race. Way to go hot Mamas team. (I just made up that name for our team, I think I might use it from now on. hee hee)

SOrry I did not go with you but it is better for all parties involved. I just would have embarrassed myself when I started vomiting due to exhaustion. hehe. Maybe I'll keep running and get better and do the next one with you guys. It looked like a ton of fun!

Way to go! That is something not everyone can or will do. I know that is on the bottom of my list. When is the next race?
