Day 1 (Sunday): Stayed up till almost midnight cleaning out the kitchen. (Here are the before pictures of our kitchen. Disregard the clutter, I had already started the emptying of the cabinets at this point....really, I am not sooo messy normally. hee hee) Everything was moved into the living room, family room, exercise room...anywhere we could stick it.
Day 2 (Monday): They came bright and early to rip everything out. It was amazing when it was all over to see how much room we actually have in our kitchen. It was very exciting for the girls, they loved being able to be run circles in the space. When it was all out, the only thing remaining was a huge pile of dust and dirt everywhere. It was very gross! And if you know Jon and I very well, we just dont like dirty things. So it drove me crazy and I have been sweeping, mopping and dusting like a mad woman ever since.
Day 3 (Tuesday): The cabinets are dropped off in the kitchen. This was very exciting for me. I kept peeking into the boxes to see what they looked like. I had to meet with a couple countractors to talk floor. The girls and I also went down to pick out our granite slab for the countertops. I loved that part the best! I have always wanted granite! Yay!!!
Day 4 (Wednesday): Cabinet guy installed the cabinets. He arrived at about 8 in the morning and didn't leave until 8 at night. Harly, Sady and I were kinda stuck back in our bedroom while he worked on the kitchen. Which was fun until, Sady decided to eat some rocks outside and threw up a couple times in the room. Thank goodness for crate training. I dont know if she liked it very much, but she spent some quality time in there. So about 6 pm, the girls were going stir crazy and needed to get out so we could help get the space finished, slide the new stove and old fridge in. (it will be here in a couple weeks) So the granite guy could do the template on thursday. So my awesome sister in law, Leslie, took the girls for a couple hours so we could finish. (Thanks Leslie...you're the best!) Then Jon I stayed up again till midnight, staring at our beautiful cabinets and cleaning like the mad people we are. (I kept finding myself, just staring and staring at them. I can't believe that I have such beautiful ones. Yippee!!!)
Day 5 (Thursday): Granite guy came bright and early to make the template. (Did I say how excited I am for this countertop?) Then I will spend the rest of the day putting stuff away and of course cleaning and cleaning so I can have my house back a little bit.
I will keep you posted as it progresses. This has been a pretty fun process so far. I have to add a little note. I have been very proud of us. Usually, when we are doing our crazy remod projects, we are the first to just go out for every meal, but this time we have actually been cooking everything at home! We have had to just use our grill to cook everything on. But let me tell you it has been a ton of fun! I definitely know now that if we were ever not able to use the kitchen in an emergency or something, we could easily just use our grill. It has been an awesome experience! I am just way proud of us! And did I mention that I am very excited for my beautiful kitchen?!

One thing I like about using the grill too is the easy clean up! We use ours alot!
The girls had fun all playing together. I think Harly and Jadyn especially loved their quality time with Josh. Jadyn and Josh BOTH watched Man Vs. Wild together. Didn't know she was a fan!
Your cabinets are beautiful. We've always loved that dark wood. And look at all of your new appliances! Your kitchen is going to feel so much bigger I can tell. it's going to look nice!
We are so thrilled for you guys that you have been able to update your kitchen. It is so much fun as we did it years ago but it is a lot of work. Be sure and keep us updated on the rest of this wonderful adventure.
Aren't kitchen remodels so fun?! So glad I'm not the only one. Your new cabinets look so much better than the old ones. Can't wait to see the countertop!
Wow.. HOw exciting. We have remodeled two kitchens in our lifetime and I can't say that I would do it again. Although, it is worth it all when it's finished. Make sure you post finished pictures. Your house doesn't even look the same when you guys moved it. It looks great.
WOW!!! I LOVE IT!! You did a great job picking the colors of the cabinets - they're gorgeous!!
Love,
Janelle
